Plant experiment question.

Look at the picutre above and tell me what you think will happen over the next day or so. How does what is going to happen relate to the process of photosynthesis?

Are you trying to see if a plant can grow in the water with little or no air and only carbbon dioxide with exesive sunlight?

Photosynthesis

There is carbon dioxide water and light there also may be little oxygen but i am not sure about sugar but those are the things that sum up photosynthesis and with those this expirement relates to photosynthessi beacuse it is showing it.(i think)

I think the plant is going to live for some days because it has all it's needs right there(water, carbon dioxide, and light).

Mr.Forde

Are to trying to see how long the plant can live without air, and only a light?

Anonymous said...

I am pretty sure that it will live but not for that long. Can wait to see results

I think the plant will live. Photosynthesis relates to this by the plant having the light,(the indoor light) the water, ( from the the tank)and the carbon dioxide it produces. I think photosynthesis also relates to this by the plant giving off water and carbon dioxide (the waste minerals)

I think the plant will live for a couple of days because it has the three main things for it to grow, carbon dioxide, water and sunlight, but it dosent have the two things it needs to produce which is oxygen which it has but it dosent have gluetose.

I think this plant will last only about a week or so because it doesn't have sunlight. It has the Artificial light. Although it has a little bit of sunlight because of the widows are open but not enough for it to keep on living. It has the water and I'm not sure about the carbon dioxide.

i think that the plant is eventully going to grow tall enof so that it grows into the tube and will get to the top. Also i think that it isnt going to grow as fast witout sun light i know that you have a light right above it but i still dont think that it isd going to grow as fast, also the fact that there is nothing in the tank but it might effect how it grows.

is there water in the flask with the plant? because if there is - i think it might last!
it is getting carbon dioxide and water and sunlight so the photosynthesis process WILL contine in the plant!

Mr Forde,

I think you are giving the plant everything it needs to survive. I think it is growing under water. theplant is growing underwater. You are testing if a plant can stay alive underwater and grow at the same time.

i think that the plant is going to grow tall enof so that it grows into the test tube, then it will get to the top.also the plant isnt really gonna grow that fast beacuse ussaly pllants grow when they have normal energy from the real sun and not just a lamp and fact that there is nothing in the tank except a funnel holding the plant there will be a big affect on how the plabnt grows

Hi Everyone!

These are great observations and predictions.

Basically, we have a plant that is getting sunlight and we can assume that there is CO2 (carbon dioxide) dissolved in the water with it. If this is the case will photosynthesis take place?

If photosynthesis IS taking place what products are created and how would we know? Would something be happening the tank that we can see?

How would it effect the test tube on top of the funnel?

Mr F :-)

Hint: review your formula for photosynthesis in your science section.

Mr. Ford,
I am so interested to see what happens with this plant. I think that once all the water goes to the top where the bubble was the plant will die. so i think it will last for a few more days.

I think that it is getting the sunlight it needs, it is recieving carbon dioxide and you cam see that at the top of the test tube oxygen is coming out in bubles. So there is photosynthesis because it gets water, has carbon dioxide, and recives sunlight. But it might die because it might run out of carbon dioxide and the photosynthesis will stop

I do think the plant will end up surviving. The plant has everything it needs in order for photosynthesis to occur. Water (in and from the tank), light (the heat lamp), and carbon dioxide that is being produced. If the plant doesnt survive I think it might be because of the lack of water or light, but I am set on the fact that the plant will survive.

Hi Alex,

Do plants produce carbon dioxide as a result of photosynthesis? Check your notes.

Write back.

Mr. F :-)

No they do not what I mean is they give off carbon dioxide. Thats what I meant to say...

Hi Again Alex,

Is it true that plants give off co2?

Nice Giulio.

I think that air bubbles are going to appear because it has all the things it needs to produce glucose(C6 H12 06) and oxygen (O2) The plant will get carbon dioxide(CO2) from the water, energy/light from the lamp, and it's already covered in water(H2O). It wont survive too long though because the carbon dioxide will eventually be gone

Mr. Forde,
i think that there will be a lot of little bubbles that form up onto the top because there is no air.

NO, the plant is recieving carbon dioxide.

Photosynthesis

Even though this is a weird way of thinking, I think that the water plant will grow larger and go through the thingymobobber and into the testtube, because the water, carbon dioxide, and light is there.

I think nothing will happen but if it stays to long it might die RL
