"Feel the Beat" Project

Hi All!

The "Feel the Beat" Project: By now you all should have a problem statement (The question you will be investigating), a hypothesis (Your educated guess as to what will occur during your investigation) a step by step procedure and a data table. These things should allow you to start collecting data! This project is DUE 6/9 for ALL students.

The final product should be a single piece of poster paper or "oak tag". DO NOT feel like you need a tri-board. This should be a no-nonsense presentation of your results.

Here is a great example of a lay-out that would work well for me! I'll talk to you about this more on MON/WED when we have science class.

Post any questions, comments or reaction here and I'll get back to you asap!

Hi Trish,

Go for it.

Others.... you simply re-create your data table on the poster board along with your bar graph. There was no specific sheet for this experiment. (I think that referred to the meal worm experiment earlier int he year) NO NEED to do a class average. Do you data from the 10 participants of your study.

Please see me in PERSON to clarify these points BEFORE the weekend. I don't want this to be unclear. I will review this in class also.

Mr. Forde i'm not going to be in school on Monday becuase my sister is graduating 5th grade and my parents said i had to come. so i finished my project a while ago. is it ok if i bring in the poster on tuesday?

Jim Forde said...

You can use yourself in your study.

If you are ever out of school for a legitimate reason, like the one you described, the it is no problem. Simply hand it in on the next day. Don't forget the test on Tuesday on the human body.

Do follow the exatc layoutr of the pciture or are there differnces between them?

For the procedure do we have to include writing the hypothesis and drawing the graph. Or just like
1. Find regular heart rate of person for 60 seconds.
2. After 60 seconds is over record data on data sheet.
3. Then make person listen to the music for 60 seconds.
4. After 60 seconds is over record data on data sheet.

Several responses....

1) No prob Steph!

2) Hey Brett! Follow the guidlines of the sheet I gave you but include the hypothesis as well. The image was just a guide to show you how to lay out your poster.

3) The procedure should be what you have to do to set-up and conduct the experiment. it should include the data analysis (graohing) or discussion stages 9or making the poster).

Good luck guys!

1)Title/Name-group
2) Problem/Question
3) Hypothesis
4) Data Table
5) Graph
6) Conclusion - what you learned/ did it support your hypothesis / What sources of error exist
7) Procedure
8) dependent / independent variables

Be neat and be on-time and you are good!
