Hi All,
This was an exciting week in the media center.! We started off by dissecting a virtual frog and a virtual owl pellet! (See ... Frog Guts.com)Then we took a look at our ecological foot prints. (See...enrichment post #12 below) It was exciting to see how many responses that post received as a school from Easton became involved in our environmental education effort also!
Next we turned our attention to the digestion system. We researched a digestive organ and started creating "postcards from the organ". Utilizing our text books and the internet we researched facts and wrote a creative description of a trip to that organ.
Now...the job is to illustrate a cover for the post/greeting card. I can't wait to see them on Monday and Tuesday!
Here are some images of kids doing their research!
Mr. Forde :-)
should we draw our digestive system part on the postcard?
ReplyDeletewhere do we draw the picture for the post card?

Hi Steph,
ReplyDeleteThe sheet I gave you describes the way you should write your post card on the bottom of a MS Word page (8.5 x 11). This is so you can then fold down the page to make a greeting card style cover. It is on that cover that you will draw a postcard like image.
I could be a simple as the organ you wrote about or a fancy "Welcome to the Stomach" cover.
You may use clip art or drawing but drawing would be fine.

I was absent when we did this and I just got the sheet today.I finished the 8 cool facts, Do you want me to show them to you tomorow and then start typing? or can I already start typing?

Go for it Izabella,
ReplyDeleteI'll trust you to move ahead with the post-card. Remember to write it like a postcard....as in
Dear Mom,

Mr. F :-)
aww so cute pics. such a great time!!! :]
ReplyDeleteHi Mr.Forde,
ReplyDeleteI was just had a question about the 24 hour homework assignment. The number of calories you burn, is that number for an hour or how long? Or does it not make any diference?
Catherine C.
Hi Mr. Forde
ReplyDeleteI am doing the homwork right now and i don't get when it says to convert your weight.
Thanks
Lindsay Green
Hi Catherine and Lynsie!
ReplyDeleteWhen you have the number of hours you did each of the categories you multiply the number of hours by the factor provided (e.g 1.1) and then multiply that number by your weight in kilograms.
I order to determine you weight in klograms you divide your weight in pounds by 2.2, since a kilogram, or kilo, is 2.2 lbs.
You will then get a calorie total for each category which you can then total for the 24 hour period.
Let me know if this was helpful!
Mr. F :-)

Catherine C.
