Here is a chance for you to do an interactive karyotype. You may recall that each of your Somatic (body) cells have 23 pairs of chromosomes. A karyotype is a photograph of the chromosomes from a single cell.
Let's see if you can pair up the chromosomes from a single cell properly in this activity!

Once you are done post a message to let me know how you did!

Thanks for the comment.
See you tomorrow.

ps- try the karyotyping game.
Hi Mr. Forde,
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you know that I tried that karyotyping thing and it is 10 times easier on the computer. Even though I did it in class already I got like 2 wrong but it was fun!
Catherine C.
Hey Mr.Forde the karyotyping activity is just like the one we did in class but it was better dragging the chromosomes than pasting them.

karyotyping is a lot easier on the computer than it is when we did it in class. Was this the same sheet we did or was it a different one?

I finished doing the game. I figured out it was a male.

I dont get on the hw were it says how many alleles are there for Pedestrian foot color? Are any of the alleles dominant?ressesive Condimant?plz write back
ReplyDeleteHi There!
ReplyDeleteIn you science notes you should se the definition for alleles. They are the letter sthat represent the genes. In this homework they are B, G, R etc. which represents the genes for the diffent foot colors.
Whether they are dominant or recessive has to do with whether their color (phenotype) is shown or not. For example, if you genotype is BG you are Blue. That is because blue is dominant and green is recessive.
Does that help? See me in schol for clarificaion on this.
Mr. F :-)
I just about got almost everything wrong...but then I found the right one. Karyotypes are hard to match up...
ReplyDeletemiss all of you,
Catherine Z.
