Great day at Sound Waters!

We did some water testing of the sound, fed the fish, observed plankton on microscopes and identified algae in many of the products we use every day...all before lunch!

What a great learning experience! :-)

Earthquake - Nuclear Issue in Japan

Hi All,

After a few crazy days we will be getting back to normal again in science class. I would like to discuss this article with you about the Japan situation.

Genetics Assessment this FRIDAY! 3/25

The genetics unit was a quick one! We have our final assessment for genetics this Friday. I am available after school from 3 - 4 PM on Tuesday and Thursday for ALL who would like to have a brush up on any concepts that are giving you difficulty. Punnett Square practice!

I am an awesome tongue roller! (Probably Homozygous dominant = TT)


Punnett Square Practice Problems:

Heterozygous means mixed letter..... like "Tt" or "Ss"


Homozygous means same letter.... "TT" or "ss"

There are two kinds of Homozygous......
If you have two large letters you are Homozygous Dominant "TT" etc.
If you have two small letter allels you are homozygous recessive "tt" etc.


Two more words....

Genotype means your genetic make up like TT or Tt. You are talking about the alleles or genes.

Phenotype is the actual outcome of the gene. "Tongue roller" or "Blue Eyes". It is what you see expressed.
